Today, November 25, 2024, the new whitepaper from the 6G Smart Networks and Services Industry Association (6G-IA), titled “EUROPEAN VISION for the 6G NETWORK ECOSYSTEM”, was presented in a webinar. This strategic report offers a European perspective on the development of the 6G network ecosystem, addressing key technological advances as well as the social, environmental, and economic challenges that will shape this new stage in mobile communications.
Professor Carlos J. Bernardos, coordinator of the 6G-DATADRIVEN project, played a prominent role as co-editor of the whitepaper and also participated as a speaker during the opening and closing of the webinar, alongside other renowned experts in the field.
The text emphasizes the importance of building a unified global vision for 6G networks, led by major international stakeholders. The European perspective underscores the commitment to research, development, and standardization of these networks, including innovations such as the integration of native artificial intelligence, integrated sensing and communications (ISAC), and a focus on sustainability—both in terms of infrastructure and applications for key sectors such as healthcare and transportation.
